Just make sure you select the correct region when doing your search: Cape Town falls under the province of the Western Cape. The website is not the easiest to use, but the information is unique at times.

Events range from music and cultural events to events focused on kids. http://www.whatsonincapetown.com/category/all-events/ provides a similar events information platform, although their Twitter account at https://twitter.com/woict/ provides daily up-to-date information.
http://www.021magazine.co.za/news/events-music-74 is where to find information on popular mainstream events to niche and special events. The site has some useful information on it, but the fact that it is hard to find out what dates the events are on makes this site more difficult to use.
https://twitter.com/CapeTown offers good tidbits once and a while and is an excellent place to have questions answered. Another good twitter account to follow is https://twitter.com/48hrsincapetown which gives current lifestyle and entertainment news relating to Cape Town.
