I have always had a hard time finding a good single source of information that covers everything that is going on in Cape Town.  Here is a collection of best sources on the Web and Social Media, so that you can optimize your time spent in the city.  This is a living document, so if you have feedback or know of another source, please contact us.

General Information sites:

Cape Town Magazine is a good place to visit to get general information regarding events and things to do in and around Cape Town.  Visit https://plus.google.com/106133473802327893375/ to find out about the latest events or follow them on twitter at https://twitter.com/CapeTownMag.  If you rather the website visits http://www.capetownmagazine.com/

Another online guide to events can be found at http://events.getaway.co.za/search/every/all/all/-/-/-/. Just make sure you select the correct region when doing your search: Cape Town falls under the province of the Western Cape.  The website is not the easiest to use, but the information is unique at times. 

http://www.whatson.co.za/ gives guest a guide to what’s on in their South African city of choice. Events range from music and cultural events, to events focused on kids. http://www.whatsonincapetown.com/category/all-events/ provides a similar events information platform, although their twitter account at https://twitter.com/woict/ provides daily up-to-date information.

http://www.021magazine.co.za/news/events-music-74 is where to find information on popular mainstream events to niche and special events. The site has some good information on it, but the fact that it is hard to find out what dates the events are on, makes this site more difficult to use.

https://twitter.com/CapeTown offers good tidbits once and a while, and is a good place to have questions answered. Another good twitter account to follow is https://twitter.com/48hrsincapetown which gives up-to-date lifestyle and entertainment news relating to Cape Town.

If you are looking for a locals guide to Cape Town, then look to http://www.cape-town-active.com/ for the less “touristy” events and activities. Alternatively, follow them on twitter at https://twitter.com/capetownactive.
