The Tinga Safari Lodge is yet another luxury safari lodge in South Africa’s Kruger National Park. While its 5,000 hectare concession is not as big as that of the Imbali Lodge, the Tinga lodge is located on the banks of the Sable River, which has one of the highest recorded densities of leopards in Africa, as well as one of the highest predator densities. The lodge itself is actually split into two lodges – the Legends lodge, a more traditional safari lodge, and the Narina lodge, with a more African, Spartan feel to it. The lodges are great for wildlife viewing, and recent sightings have included a pack of 18 wild dogs and a pride of lions that killed a warthog behind the Legends boardroom.
Accommodation
Legends Lodge: The luxurious suites at Legends are situated so that they have the best possible view of the Sable River. Each suite features air conditioning and an en suite bathroom with double shower. Other amenities include private lounge and private heated plunge pool, heated floors and towel racks. Private decks allow for unobstructed views of wildlife, including frequent sightings of the Big Five. Regardless of where you are at Legends, you are guaranteed beautiful views (even in the bathroom)!
Narina Lodge: The Narina Lodge features many of the same luxurious amenities as Legends in a more natural, African atmosphere. Private suites are part of the landscape and feature fantastic views of the Sable River. Each suite has a private viewing deck with heated plunge pool. En suite bathrooms feature the same fantastic views, and the Narina Lodge features spacious outdoor showers to extend your natural experience.
Wildlife/Safari
The Tinga Safari lodge enjoys frequent sightings of some of the most sought after animals, both around the lodge itself and during game drives. From lions, leopards, cheetahs, and wild dogs to white and black rhinos, you are sure to see some unique and fascinating creatures. All guided safaris are lead by South Africa National Park-trained staff, and the Tinga Lodge has unrestricted access to their entire Kruger roadway, which allows for access to the most scenic and historically significant sites in the area. Night drives and off-roading are also permitted in the Tinga concession. The guides and trackers take full advantage of the natural surroundings for a truly holistic ecotourism experience.
