Medjumbe is smaller and more exclusive than its Matemo neighbor: In fact, the island is so remote and exclusive that it has no local village with permanent inhabitants. The focus of the Medjumbe experience is warm hospitality, simplicity and slow pace living. The main attraction of Medjumbe Private Island is the powdery white beach and warm turquoise waters. The lodge itself has a rustic charm and is very comfortable, but in staying true to the castaway dream the lodge opted out of having all the frills of a grand city hotel. The interior has been designed with a chis Moroccan theme, with polished wood trimmings.
The stand out and most appreciated feature of the chalets are the private plunge pools where visitors can cool down and relax the day away. Decks and patios are situated all over the resort, creating many private little nooks for maximum privacy. There are 13 thatched chalets, each with en suite bathroom, indoor and outdoor showers. The rooms also have air conditioning, beach hammocks, ceiling fans, mosquito nets, mini bar, safe, satellite television plus tea and coffee making facilities.
