“Makanyane” is the traditional name for the African wild dog, a species which nearly went extinct, but has now been brought back from the brink. Makanyane Safari Lodge, located in the Madikwe Private Game Reserve, hosts one of the world’s largest populations of wild dog, as well as the Big Five and thousands of other species of mammals, reptiles and birds.
Makanyane has received many awards for its friendly service, knowledgeable game guides, beautiful accommodation and surroundings. Makanyane Safari Lodge also has one of the highest rates of return visits of all the private reserves surrounding the Kruger Park, making it a favorite African safari destination.
Accommodation:
- Romantic, secluded suites are joined by a shady river path. Each suite is in its own private alcove of bush, and is completely private
- Each suite has glass walled bedrooms with an open-fronted lounge area, giving you unrestricted views of local bush and game
- All suites have fireplaces and ceiling fans, as well as an en-suite bathroom with large double doors that can be opened to allow the sounds of the bush to join you in the tub
